Social media evolves quickly and platforms waste no time rolling out new features, updates and AI-powered functionality. Here’s everything marketers, creators and brands need to know about the latest updates.
Instagram updates
- Profile grid rearranging.
Instagram allows users to manually reorder posts on their profile and highlight key content without deleting or reposting. This gives greater control over profile presentation and allows for changes without losing valuable engagement. - Comment images directly from your camera roll.
You can now comment on images directly from your camera roll onto posts. Whilst Instagram is also continuing to test the blue search suggestions that appear in the comments. - New carousel feature.
Instagram updated carousels, allowing creators to assign independent captions to individual photos inside a single carousel post. Instead of relying on one generic caption for the entire carousel post. - Replacing audio on published posts.
Instagram now allows you to adjust the audio within your Instagram post without having to delete and repost.
A recent Sprout Social report stated that 40% of consumers discover new products through employee-generated content (EGC) at least once a month, increasing to 62% when considering Gen Z only.
LinkedIn updates
- Collaborator posts.
LinkedIn announces a new update which allows multiple users and company pages to collaborate on a post. When a collaborator accepts the invite, the post appears on everyone’s accounts simultaneously, merging the likes, comments and engagement into one open conversation. This new update will allow for much wider networking than usual on LinkedIn. - AI Slop.
LinkedIn adds a button to report ‘AI slop’. LinkedIn’s chief product officer said “AI slop is a top priority for all of us. We really care about this. People come to LinkedIn to connect with real people and share their real perspectives, ideas, and expertise.”
TikTok updates
- Branded minidramas.
TikTok is expanding its Growth Max (a performance advertising suite built to scale in-app entertainment) promotion offering with branded minidramas, allowing businesses to promote their own episodic short-form series in-app. - Custom Creator Networks.
TikTok has launched Custom Creator Networks, which allows brands to turn existing brand-relevant videos into ads.
Social media is constantly evolving and so should your marketing strategy. These updates offer new ways to connect with your audience and improve content, allowing you to stay ahead of the curve.
